Palapas Shelter Fund

The Palapas Shelter Fund has now partnered with a group in Peru called  San Francisco Saludable as well as continuing our partnership with one of Saskatoon’s community schools City Park Collegiate.

San Francisco Saludable (Healthy San Francisco) is a grassroots organization that provides innovative solutions to meet the basic needs of the citizens in San Francisco de Yarinacocha, a large Shipibo community in the Peruvian Amazon. Together with an integrated waste management service, an environmental education program, and agricultural initiatives we work to promote a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

Palapas Shelter Fund has been created to facilitate people helping others. It is our belief that if we share some of our good fortune with others less fortunate we will be making the world a better place. Since first speaking of this idea with others we have received many offers of support and have seen others become very enthusiastic about the initiative.

We intend to focus our support on two charities per year, allowing us to devote our time and resources to forming real partnerships with the charities we believe are making the most difference to the causes we believe in. This focus also means we can commit the money we raise to specific projects that we believe are particularly worthwhile. And, as we are hoping to enlist your help in supporting such projects, it means we will be in a position to give you detailed and meaningful reports of our progress.
